Before we get to the #FloodlightFriday bit I need to clear up the obvious confusion here. This fanzine was “better” known as ‘The Keeper Looks Like Elvis‘ but by issue 12 in December 1996 they changed the name (temporarily I think?) to The Keeper Looks Like Cliff Why? No idea, I can only assume it’s because of a goalkeeping change at Aggborough.

Now we’ve cleared this up but before we get to the floodlights, I just need to mention how chaotic and brilliant this “For Rovers Fans + Virgins only” fanzine is. For a start there is news that they will replace the cover from a now distant issue 1 free of charge with their long arm stapler, paired with the sensational news that they have run and already stopped a sticker album.

This sticker album was a Christmas special for Christmas 1996 and once upon a time a copy went up for sale on Ebay (Thankfully also proving that I’m not imagining the name change).

I note that it went unsold at the time but the listing is gone. IF YOU ARE STILL OUT THERE GET IN TOUCH!
In addition, I couldn’t resist including a couple of the adverts, a brilliant fish shop name, copyright infringement, fish ‘Fresh from the net’, Eric Cantona selling English language services in a ‘relaxed, personal setting’ in Stourbridge..There are many more superb ads within so watch our for the next installment of ads in fanzines ( in the meantime, here is issue 1 https://footballfanzineculture.blog/2025/10/16/the-mad-men-of-football-fanzines/ )

Anyway, floodlights..its another 2 for the price of 1 offer this week, well, 1.25 anyway. On page 27 (there were 34 pages in this zine, a highly unusual number of pages) we get a bit of the pylon at Telford plus a superb action shot/overexposed floodlight at Crewe. What more could you ask for?

I did due diligence to make sure that the Telford photo was actually a pylon and proof comes from this old photo of the terrace. The magnificent Bucks Head ground disappeared in 2000, along with their quite magnificent stand. (Thanks to @paulgtastic for these1)

Anyway back to ‘Keeper’, they don’t just stop at floodlights across the midlands, there is also an 8 page piece by photographer Bob Hill who has been snapping the action at Aggborough and beyond for 16 years. I’ll come back to this another day but his favourite toilet photo is too good not to include here.
